Research meeting: Camiel van der Laan

February 6 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Camiel van der Laan will present a talk titled “Genetically informed research using CBS data: Genotype data linkage and applications to ADHD & healthcare costs”.

About the speaker: Camiel is a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Biological Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit. He specialises in genetics of antisocial behaviour and now works on an ODISSEI project aimed at improving the infrastructure for Dutch social scientists. Specifically, Camiel is working on improving accessibility of genetically informed research designs and developed a method to safely link genotype data to CBS microdata.

About the talk:
In this presentation I will talk you through the potential, difficulties, and practicalities of implementing genetically informed designs in CBS microdata. I will discuss 3 main topics. 1) Our recent GWAS of ADHD. 2) The procedure that we developed in collaboration with ODISSEI, SURF, and CBS to safely link genotype data to CBS microdata and its application to healthcare costs. 3) Our plans to improve the methodological possibilities of performing twin studies with CBS microdata.
