Sven van der Lee is a medical doctor and senior researcher working at the Human Genetics department and Alzheimer center of the Amsterdam University Medical center. He is trained as genetic epidemiologist and obtained his PhD in October 2017 at the department of Epidemiology at the Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam titled: “Unraveling Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Alzheimer’s disease and its Related Endophenotypes”.
His research revolves around large scale collaborative analyses and he has interacted in many international consortia studying genetics of dementia such as CHARGE, IGAP, EADB and ADSP. He has identified multiple genetic factors that influence the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related phenotypes. As physician he counsels patients for DNA-testing in clinical care and as researcher he aims to translate state-of-the art genetic findings directly into clinical care.
