I am a PhD student at Amsterdam UMC in the Department of Human Genetics, working within the Oncogenetics and Genome Analysis sections. When I started my studies at Delft University of Technology, CRISPR was a newly emerging technology, and I was captivated by its exponential revolution, fueling my passion for advancing genetic technologies and synthetic biology.

My PhD research focuses on CRISPR-based diagnostics, aiming to enable accurate, rapid, and point-of-care detection of nucleic acids. Among several research lines, I develop assays for the highly specific detection of single-nucleotide variants associated with cancer. Additionally, my work extends to the identification of infections, such as that of Cytomegalovirus. Through this research, we aim to contribute to the development of tools that improve early detection and personalized treatment strategies, ultimately advancing precision medicine. Therefore, the conducted research involves close collaboration within the Human Genetics department, with other departments and with clinical laboratories outside our hospital.
